Written for readers who have finished Book 1.
Doro is Sabine's dearest friend at the Lydia-Gemeinde: a retired GP of about Sabine's own age, warm, sensible and impossible to shock. She runs half the practical life of the church and has probably carried more soup to more lonely people than anyone else in the congregation. On Thursdays she brings biscuits to the circle in a tin with a Christmas robin on the lid, whatever the season. There is not a cruel bone in her. When something is troubling Sabine, Doro is the person she tells.
